German customising house unveils its undoubtedly unique take on an American icon, the Chevrolet Corvette
The notion of rebodying a
Corvette is hardly new, but Munich-based Endora Cars has conjured up an
unusual take that draws inspiration from European and American cars of
the 1960s and '70s.With design elements that bear resemblance to everything from a Honda NSX to a late-sixties Chev Camaro, the Endora SC-1 is an oddball contraption that's nevertheless billed as "the best synergy of dynamic, elegance, individualism and lifestyle yet". Er, right then...
The SC-1's face is distinguished by high-intensity-discharge headlamps, LED fog lights and a long bonnet with an inverted power bulge, while the flanks have a pronounced Coke-bottle shape with the belt line rising markedly towards the rear.
The fastback roofline culminates in a pointy derriere, with the centre panel blacked out for maximum contrast with the afterburner taillights. Below this sits a diffuser, within which are housed the reversing lamps and fog lights.
Customers can choose from a range of engines and power outputs, depending on how much performance they need... And, of course, the thickness of their wallets.
The entry-level powerplant is a 6.2-litre V8 with 321kW and 575Nm, while next up is a 7.0-litre Corvette Z06 unit with an altogether heftier 377kW and 637Nm. The range-topping model gets the 6.2-litre supercharged V8 from the Corvette ZR1, and this motor is good for a completely OTT 476kW and 820Nm.
Each of these engines is equipped as standard with six-speed-manual gearbox, while a six-speed auto with paddleshift is optional for the entry-level engine. Traction control and stability control are standard across the range.
Spent gases are ejected via retro sidepipes that protrude from just forward of the rear wheels, while the SC-1's suspension consists of cast aluminium upper and lower control arms, transverse-mounted composite leaf springs and monotube shock absorbers on all four corners.
The Endora SC-1 comes standard with 19-inch alloys at the front and 20-inchers at the rear, but 20 and 21-inch rims for front and rear respectively will be optional.
